Our June 10th presentation of Pictures at an Exhibition will be our first concert in the beautiful Northshore Performing Arts Center - a 600 seat facility located on the campus of Bothell High School. This performing arts auditorium is a $5 million joint venture between the Northshore Performing Arts Center Foundation and the Northshore School District. The NPAC opened in 2013, after a 10 year effort to bring it to reality. One of the largest venues of its kind in the Seattle area, the NPAC offers a top-notch concert experience.
Live Concert Recording of our 3/18/2017 concert - "Animals!"
The centerpiece of our next concert will be an adaptation of Modest Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition". Well known as a showpiece for virtuosic pianists, this work is held in high regard as well through the symphonic orchestration by Maurice Ravel. The transcription that River Winds plays is a faithful orchestration of the original, with strong ties to Ravel's arrangement, as well as to the original piano composition. This will also be our first performace in the wonderful Northshore Performing Arts Center.
We are excited to announce the formation of the new Riverwinds Jazz Band! This jazz band is anticipated to be an 18 piece band consisting of trumpets, trombones, saxophones, percussion (trap/set), piano, electric/upright bass, and vocals. Our repertoire encompasses great band standards from the early days of jazz, to modern fusion, and everything in between!
We are currently looking to fill the following spots in the band: bari sax, a bass player, and a pianist.
